Volunteer to manage rota (demonstrates leadership and altruism, but results in xmas/hogmanay shifts, which to be fair you were going to have to work anyway.
To be popular with nurses, balance knowledge with humility, and ask their opinion but only for 2 weeks. After that you’ll look weak. You must not take their advice (!) but they mustn’t find out.
For your first night on, bring buns and jar of coffee. Else some pizzas (which you’ll eat cold yourself for breakfast).
Avoid chatting up nurses, who will immediately see through you. The ones who do respond are the recently jilted, probably by a departing doctor.
