Wikileaks

So far I haven’t been convinced that Wikileaks is an improvement on regular journalism or public protest. Publishing what people talk about in private, perhaps when they have not had a chance to reflect or discuss more widely is not automatically a good thing.
A Norwegian paper reports cables from the US embassy in Israel showing that Israel has had an official policy of undermining the Palestinian economy in Gaza, without bringing about a full humanitarian crisis (http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/wikileaks-israel-aimed-to-keep-gaza-economy-on-brink-of-collapse-1.335354). It doesn’t surprise me, it fits with the facts. Israel knows that if you ignore criticism for long enough, world interest moves elsewhere.
